Holiday Bowl Defensive MVP, Will Smith, Continues to Impress with Pro Day
MARCH 21, 2014, LUBBOCK, TX - Texas Tech linebacker Will Smith puts months of training to good use at the university's pro day on Friday, March 14.
Scouts from all 32 NFL teams were on hand to witness Smith's impressive marks, which included running a 4.68 40-yard; a 4.46 shuttle; a 7.07 3-cone; a 9' 5' broad jump; and a towering 37.5' vertical jump.
Coming in at 6' 3' and 220 lbs., this puts the Riverside, Calif., native on par with scores from top linebackers at last month's NFL combine.
'I'm glad I got the opportunity to show off my athleticism for the scouts and show what I have to offer in the linebacker position,' said Smith of his big day. 'Overall the day went well. There's some numbers that could have been better, but I'm still excited for what's to come next. The only thing I can do now is work hard and pray.'
Agent Derek Spearman also raved about his client's stellar pro day performance saying, 'Will's explosiveness was extremely apparent at his pro day, especially for someone measuring in at 6' 2'.' 'He did well during his drills, and showed his athleticism. I'm glad to share that he's been contacted by several teams for individual workouts.'
