Sam Montgomery is an explosive Defensive End that stands at 6-4, 260lbs and has been clocked a 40 time of 4.5 seconds. Montgomery’s game play has been compared to as a mix between New York Giants great Lawrence Taylor and recent Denver Bronco DeMarcus Ware. Sam played his College Football at LSU and was Drafted by the Houston Texans in the 3rd Round of the 2013 NFL Draft 95th overall. Sam’s past coaches have said that he is very coachable, retains information and plays very quickly and is not afraid to work hard. Montgomery has had some off the field issues in the past from a well-publicized speeding ticket to smoking marijuana. Sam takes full responsibility for his actions and blames a lot of that to youth and immaturity and guarantee’s that any team that is willing to give him an opportunity is not getting that immature 24 year old Montgomery but the 27 year old mature Montgomery that is hungry and ready to fight for any team willing to give him that chance. Montgomery does believe there are other off the field rumors that get associate to his name that is not accurate and he has former teammates, team officials and NFLPA employees that can speak on Sam’s behalf. Sam has kept his body and mind busy over the past year where he returned to LSU to complete his degree and has been working with Strength Coach Tommy Moffit. Montgomery goes on to state “returning to LSU to complete my degree has further demonstrated my willingness to push myself, as well as my strong character. I made sure I met the LSU standards of excellence which includes attending classes, living a clean and healthy lifestyle, and representing the university in the community.” There are many things that can be said about Sam Montgomery, some of it true some of it untrue but the one thing that cannot be denied is that Sam Montgomery loves playing football and he is very good at it. Any team that gives him an opportunity will quickly see this and see how he can help any NFL Defence and also help any NFL team working in the modern day salary cap world.
